Some books sadly came my way recently after the death of one of my parents’ friends. So thank you, Adrian, wherever you are; your books are in good hands.

I’ve fallen in love with a 1963 AA illustrated road book of Scotland, published  when the motorways were still being planned or built in Scotland making it a fabulous bit of social history. Good grief, East Kilbride still has a green belt!

It includes a list of 270 ‘itineraries’ (which are basically satnavs instructions on paper,) a gazeteer, glossary, placename information and maps.
